"tonsils, adnoids and appendix removed." Uh only if you had tonsillitis and only if you had appendicitis. I was born in 53. Still have my tonsils.

What you're telling us is that you are smarter than the PHD's in their own fields. Right. Sure they maybe wrong, but it will take more than you listening to Rush every night to prove it.

Re: My point is that when very specific questions are asked of the global warming proponents the answer is always the same. "There is a consensus, blah, blah, blah." So what.

CO2 traps heat. It's simple physics, like the earth being round rather than flat. You can check this out with a glass bottle, a thermometer, and your breath.

There's no need for a consensus.

What can be argued is whether a warmer Earth with an atmosphere containing more CO2, etc. is better or worse.

But greenhouse gases cause the Earth to warm, just as sulfur in the upper atmosphere (whether from volcanos or burning coal) causes it to cool.

Little Joe, my point is that when a problem is as complicted as global warming, that an easy to understand clear answer is not available, one has to go to a consensus of the best minds.

There is no other path. There will always be people who see things differently either becasue they are just wrng or are nuts. Lots of humans are nuts. And being educated has little to do with being nuts-lol.

Remember it took 50 years for people to accept that smoking caused lung cancer and other ailments and eating fatty foods caused heart attacks.

Every CEO of every major cigarette company raised their right hand before a senate panel and denied nicotine was addictive. Just a few years ago. They all lied.

Now the oil companies are doing everything to convince us global warming caused by man is nonsense. Trying to disprove that one is a lot more difficult than proving cigarettes cause lung cancer; and we do not have the luxury of screwwing around for another 50 years like we did with cigarettes and fat.

Cheers,

well for sure consensus alone shouldn't be the deciding factor. tonsillectomy was not evidence based as you might know.
political winds and science are not the same, as you might know.

<I remember as a child that almost every friend of mine had his/her tonsils, adnoids and appendix removed. It was the consensus at the time among doctors that this was a good thing. Today that is laughable.>

I'm sure if modern antibiotics were available in 1950, I would not have had my tonsils out. On the other hand, the crude method of a bygone time cut my severe fever and I lived to criticize you. You do the best with what you have.

Questioning the recommendations of experts because they don't have "good answers" presupposes that you already know what the answer is. If that's the case, why bother the experts ? They are a busy lot - offering medical advice to a population stooped in self-gratification, superstition, and religious taboos. For example, HIV is totally avoidable, and yet the number of victims rises. Why is that ? People don't like the answers from "experts" ?
