Not important, but the move towards charge trap is not a direction Intel would need for their logic products. Intel might need it however for NAND at some point.

This new agreement between Numonyx and Hynix is a logical continuation of previous agreements because Numonyx owns a relative small part of the JV with Hynix for 300mm NAND production. If Hynix is going to use charge trapping for NAND then by extention Numonyx has to use and pay for it too.

This does btw not automatically mean that Numonyx will use charge trapping for NOR any time soon. It could well be that Numonyx will first use charge trapping for NAND only. For NOR they recently got access to an Elpida 300mm fab, starting production at 65nm I think, halfway through 2009.

It would be interesting to know from who Numonyx will obtain 32nm process technology and if it includes high-k. High-k might stretch the use of floating gate for NOR as it does for NAND.
