That means Intel is now years behind AMD, since AMD has been shipping the K8 since something like 2003, while Intel is just now making it to the I7...

And you assured me it would be Core 2.5, or Core 2. So they went for something even MORE different from Core 2 than I suggested. Do you still think it has the same microarchitecture as Penryn, mas? :)
