In summary, many of the components of the diet of Crete—fiber, natural antioxidants from wild plants, fruit, wine, olive oil, a low ratio of (n-6) to (n-3) ratio (consistent with the Paleolithic diet)

All of these "back to the Noble Savage" diets that are pushed here sound very Rousseauian. People are not aware of how much stomach cancer was caused by the ingredients in those diets. Or how brutal and short life was.

I picked this up a while ago and it's quite interesting:

as is this book, recommended to me by a fellow SI'er:

Diet matters a lot- I don't think we know yet exactly HOW it all plays out, but if you look at large populations that have done very well with their diet, you can certainly draw some major conclusions. Especially since young Okinawans and Chinese who are adopting more Western diets are getting more Western illnesses.

I'm sure you have seen these books, but they may be new to other people here. A better diet can really change your life, and I've no doubt it makes you live longer, as well as allowing you to enjoy your life more fully.
