You can eat plant sterol esters and stannol esters and raise HDL. Also the following are alleged to increase HDL although I don't know by how much. * Garlic * Oats * Soy Products * Avocado * artichoke * moderate alcohol usage. * monunsaturated fats (olive oil) * fish oil - high EPA kind is better. * niacin containing foods (rice bran) * flax seed oil * orange juice * dark green vegetables. * celery * phenols, green tea etc.. ******************************** Exercise will increase HDL significantly as will niacin and (I allege - or has been my experience), Inositol Hexanicotinate and Pantethine. Pantethine is supported in this respect by medical studies. Statin medications will raise HDL by a small amount only. They also don't do much for triglycerides whilst niacin by preventing cellular fat breakdown into serum seems t knock them for a loop real good. Niacin is the all around winner. Nothing else even comes close although there are exercise hyper responders whose HDL will rise smartly with an increase in aerobic exercise. There are also niacin hyper-responders whose HDL will almost double when they get into the high ranges of HDL usage. You HDL is low and you will obviously collapse at any moment. It is suggested that you take drastic measures to increase it. Eating walnuts by the peck and pedaling an exercise bike while gobbling niacin tablets frantically might be comforting. On the other hand, since you have such a good grasp of your numbers and diet, your early death would make a convincing demonstration of the need for higher HDL. Perhaps you would like to volunteer to keep your numbers low so we can determine if this is the case. It would allow medical science that much more insight to make firm decisions on future policies. "Every effort to locate the responsible parties has been made", said an informed source at the Food and Drug Administration, "Yet 'they' remain as elusive as ever", the source went on. "There is no doubt that the discovery of the "them" would be a milestone in the history of science. Having an indisputable oracle so close at hand would simplify many investigations" The source would not speculate on why they have simply not come forward when it was suggested that it was so obvious that their keen insight was direly needed to solve scientific dilemmas and shed light on matters of national interest. "It may be that 'they' work best behind the scenes, and simply do not like to waste their valuable time in meaningless debate with the legions of uniformed and uneducated people who might challenge 'them' in an unproductive way", the source said.
