I have actually talked to one of the Russian WWII veterans.
He said the Germans were the line in front, the KGB was the
line behind, so u had to go, cause if u didn't, the KGB
would hunt u down and shoot u. All that accompanied
by some obscene language. Gulp! That was quite a
revelation for me at the tender age of 15 ... given
the propaganda of heroism and stuff. <G>

There was heroism, but that was on occupied Russian
territories. Stalin actually killed almost all skilled Russian
Red Army generals in purges prior to WWII.

Today you need to talk to these American boys fighting in Iraq
to find out what a mess that is. The trouble is, they don't
like to talk about it. It was a complete disillusion and a
nightmare for them. Wars are very ugly. Shrub and his wars.
We don't need wars unless we are threatened.
