In my case I considered joining the military when the country was busy trying to lose the Vietnam war. I decided I didn't want to be part of trying to lose a war, so I did not join. If I had been born four years earlier or later it may have been different.

"And there is no way in hell Parsons, Tejek or Al would fight for the freedoms they have in this country."

You're quite wrong. When the freedoms we have in this country are threatened, I will fight with my life for them. The most current threat has been the Bush administration, and I've been doing all I can to oppose it.

Other than that, our freedoms haven't been threatened in my lifetime.

"They don't refuse admission because of high test scores. In my son's case,"

I was talking about the academies.

"But I noticed you, like me, didn't participate."

No I didn't. I decided that in the immediate aftermath of Vietnam, the service was going to be extremely chaotic.

And I was right.

and that they have never seen scores like these.

Never? Wow...

They do not have sufficient appreciation of their freedom to make it worth fighting for to them.

LOL...presumptuous ass you are...
