So? Even by the standards of that day, being able to fly while graduating at the bottom of your class was unusual. Being in the elite unit of the time was unheard of with that kind of standing. Likewise, flying low enough to hit high lines was a career ending move, even back then.

So, judging by today's standards isn't the case.
