I'm not suggesting that my kidney stones came from the D. I don't know the cause. I have no reason to think that the D was a factor or that D isn't safe.

I have a follow-up appt on Thursday with the urologist who flushed out one of the stones. He should have more info from the pathology report. I had never had any plumbing problems before at all so the kidney stones were a total surprise. I went to the ER because the pain was so great and so different from anything I had experienced previously thinking maybe it was my appendix. They kindly knocked me out, although they took their sweet time about it. :(

k, how long were you taking the higher dosages of D?

I haven't taken more that 2000 IU so far. I started with just 1000 sometime early spring. When I subsequently registered a 48 in my blood test, I increased it to 2000. I've also been working out in the outdoor pool this summer. I figure that 2000 will likely be enough to get a decent reading, at least in the summer. Plan to do another blood test to test that hypothesis.

taking anything less than a therapeutic dose seemed a waste

How did you determine your therapeutic dose?
