Z, we're not going to "reduce our carbon footprint" by a significant amount unless we significantly reduce our standard of living.

Of course, you can always promise the "Holy Grail" of alternative energy that proves to be more potent and less environmentally harmful than oil, but until then, you're going to be squeezing blood out of a stone.
