I'm just not convinced of that.

I'm pretty convinced that if we'd spent hundreds of billions on solar and wind over the last 30 years, we'd have been somewhere by now. We might still be powering our cars mostly on oil, but we could've reduced our reliance on fossil fuels for our energy needs in our homes and businesses, where storage and portability isn't as much of an issue. We likely could've reduced our emissions significantly (50%?) by now, and could've led the rest of the world in doing the same.

I'm very interested in seeing the effectiveness of the solar plant being built in CA...
