It may have been articulated but not in a way that most people understand it.

It has been articulated in very simple terms. We are there to prevent the terrorists from taking over. I think the public is now aware of this as well. In fact I think it is the major reason McCain is now ahead in the polls.

Most people do not comprehend the bigger reasons we needed to do it.

That's because they don't exist. And if Bush tried to articulate some other reasons now it would just point out his criminal negligence and lying selling the war up front.
