Look I live in GA, GA is the postal abbreviation for the State of Georgia in the United States. I think it is confusing when using it as an abbreviation for the nation between Russia and Turkey.

I will agree with Ted that Iraq, Kosovo and even Granada are the pretenses Putin used but there is a big difference in taking down corrupt granada regime and georgia or fascist saddam or georgia.

Convenient excuses. Had none of these occurred, Putin would have found some other enabling theory, or just ignored it altogether and done what he wanted to without ANY explanation whatsoever.

They felt fine about shooting down KAL007 without any excuse whatsoever.

I would bet those same people who tie Iraq and Georgia together run away as fast as they can when you mention Kosovo.

Look GA is very complicated and i suspect we have differences but i think we agree that GA is in a critical area of the world and the russian invasion violates long standing understandings about how FP is conducted in the 21st century. I will agree with Ted that Iraq, Kosovo and even Granada are the pretenses Putin used but there is a big difference in taking down corrupt granada regime and georgia or fascist saddam or georgia.

What you don't frigging get is that he can say it. By invading Iraq, the US blew its moral compass to smithereens. What you also refuse to acknowledge in your GOP case of egocentrism is that GA is in Russia's backyard. The US wouldn't like it if Russia messed with Mexico or Cuba but in your eyes, its perfectly alright for the US to mess with the Russian equivalent. In addition, you all seem to want to ignore that the people of S. Ossetia don't want to be a part of GA. In their eyes, the GA president looks like a Saddam. Finally, we are backing another questionable leader like Musharraf.....something GOPers do with considerable consistency. The recent election in GA is being questioned for its legitimacy and the administration of the GA president is noted for its corruption.

Oil and the Bush administration have set up Putin and Russia very nicely and now we have to deal with him. The world once again has two superpowers.
