My eyes are wide open. I don't expect leaders to be without moral virtue but neither do I expect them to be invulnerable or messiahs. Personal wealth is neither a virtue nor a vice but it is character defining.

The charge of elitism is interesting but must be qualified. It is disqualified when the person charged has lived a common life and had experiences typical of the populace, while simply living an uncommon life does not make one in-and-of-itself an elitist.

We can go forward snickering in our discomfort with our lot.

Or NOT. Change and renewal? Surely that is a choice we could be making.

If not, then what?

You've promoted unity as a worthy cause. OK then be a unifier. The point is not to be legalistic, but to live in the spirit of creativity which leads to reconciliation.

Spiteful smearing is destructive, backward looking, and divisive . Hope, reconciliation, and creativity is forward looking and constructive.
