There was definitely an element of joking there.

But if you have to pick a figure, $5M is probably better than 150K.

Many, MANY families make 150K and couldn't get by without it. 150K is MIDDLE CLASS by any reasonable definition over most of the nation. And these are the people Obama plans to tax.

McCain really had the right answer, however -- "Rich" isn't the same as "Wealth".

I once had a client who hired my firm to handle his business and personal finances. At the time, I perceived him to be "rich". Once one of his employees came by our office to pick up his paycheck, and made the remark -- "That's the brokest bunch of millionaires I ever heard of..." He wasn't just talking about cash.

The average person realizes there is more to being rich than having a good year, income-wise.

Exactly. And just a short while ago he was saying the economy was fine and Americans had nothing to worry about.........that's real easy to say when you're sitting on $100 million. Meanwhile, Gramm was calling American a country of whiners.

It may be McCain's macaca moment!
