The survival of my niece born at 2 lbs was very unusual at the time.

What was the term? How many months?

Mike.

David, > But at some point the fetus transitions from tissue to a being.

This argument is a real slippery slope, and most people know it too.

In our society these days, it seems it's not a life until the mother decides it is. Yet there are many people out there who have a vested interest in getting the mother to decide one way or the other. Planned Parenthood will tell the mother that she's not ready, that she should consider her future, that her needs come before that of a child, etc.

Me, I'm for the other extreme, that the child's needs always come before the parents', even an unborn child. What I don't like is how personal convenience factors into the question of whether the unborn child is indeed a life. That's just wrong.
