>>Do you want more of the last 8 years?

The last eight years have been bliss for me, so more would be welcome. I don't attribute my success to some faraway ruler, and neither do I look to Washington for succor when the chips are down.

The problem is not the titular leader, but the system itself, and the people who sustain it. The Dems and the GOP seem to want more of the last 8 years, more of the last 80 years. The rhetoric belies this, but it is true nonetheless. The underlying problem is that we have ceased being honest with ourselves about what we really want and can realistically expect from life on this Earth. We have been consumed by our toys, and so we think toy-like thoughts when it comes to governance. We are unserious, and we have forgotten the alternatives.

Which is what I saw on display this evening.
