Yes...without doubt, Bush has been one of the most pathetic Presidents I will probably ever see in my lifteime.Getting into discussions of whether there was a surplus or deficit is for the elites. Whether there WAS a surplus/deficit may be for the elites. You brought it up as an obvious badge of Democratic superiority so I figured it was a data point you were hanging an argument on. Whether there WILL be is the single largest issue that should be on the mouths of the current candidates. Everyting Obama or McCain want to do is affected by the fiscal ability of this country which is currently headed down the tubes, and has been for years. Neither McCain or Obama have any coherent plan to address the situation in a meaningful way...and why should they, it doesn't poll well as an issue. It is much easier for both sides to toss out tired oratory or drone on about the same issues that "rate". We just look at how tough it is to get food to the table. You ain't seen nothin yet, but don't worry, I am sure Obama will make sure that you get a loaf of bread.I would ask the same question that a Republican presidential candidate Ronald Reagan asked: "Are you better off today than you were 8 years ago." Yes, I am financially. The REAL issue, however, is how this country is going to get its' fiscal house in order. Without addressing that in a focused, non-partisan manner, all of the lofty plans that Obama has are WORTHLESS as they will do nothing but weaken this country more.
