The situation these days is that to be funded, a
technology advance must be quite close to a finished
project. If it's about to make money then it will find
willing venture capitalists. I'm forced to keep my ear
open at this beautiful site to get useful money making
ideas from Elmatador, Tobago Jack, Energy Play et al.
That way I can advance my technology with my own venture
money. It's the same in Japan, India, etc. Everybody wants
to finance new technology that doesn't need any more
financing, thank you. I think this is normal; the tech
boom days were exceptional. Much of science originated as
a hobby for rich British and French people in the 18th
century.
