MM, I can't speak for anyone else on this thread but here's my own opinion. If you come on this thread to offer your view/opinion about something, you do so to get some sort of reaction. You get the best reaction if you explain your views/opinions, not just state them. Let me offer an illustration. You asserted that Palin's experience was greater than Obama's. Let me break that down, offer some counter arguments, then leave space for you to offer your position. Perhaps that leads to a conversation. I'm going to break the "experience" argument into two components--managing large systems and foreign policy knowledge. On the first count, Palin has experience managing a small town and, population wise, a small state. I've not seen any discussion of how well she did either. Perhaps you could offer that. In Obama's case, the most relevant experience is the management of his campaign staff. That staff is certainly much larger and more extensive than she directly managed as governor or mayor. It extended across all 50 states and had a budget which is some ungodly magnitude larger than Wasilia. We know the results, a superbly managed campaign. So, for my money, Obama managed larger systems and there is more evidence of excellent results. On the foreign policy front, she has none. Geography doesn't count. Obama has been involved in foreign policy issues at the highest level during his time in the senate by virtue of his seat on the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee. And has won the respect of long time members of that committee, including Republicans Richard Lugar and Chuck Hagel, as well as Democrats Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Bill Nelson, and John Kerry. And the respect he receives from Ted Kennedy is not to be sneezed at, when he could easily have supported Hillary Clinton. As for the Commander in Chief argument, neither has experience. Which is the rule rather than the exception for presidential candidates. I have yet to see an argument that her position as governor had anything serious to do with the National Guard in her state. So, there's the beginning of a conversation. Tell me where you disagree and why. And perhaps we can take the next step.
