McCain's choice of Palin is a surprise to me and I am still learning about her, so I have nothing new to offer until I become more knowledgeable. She looks good on the basis of what I know. For example, she fought with the Republican establishment in Alaska and won several issues. She's down to earth, does real world things that city people lining up for their lattes have no appreciation for, and has done quite remarkably for a person her age. I like that her husband is a regular guy, like most of us.

I do not think Obama's 'managing' his own campaign staff carries any weight at all. Just my opinion. Such things are managed by teams of pros hoping to get in on the prize. Actually, on both sides, it's probably the other way around. I remember lots of snipes about Bush's 'handlers,' and Obama's campaign is nothing more.

Obama, hoping to get the rural/NRA/conservative vote asserts that he supports the Second Amendment, and then he picks Biden--a well known enemy of the right to bear arms. That combined with his positions as a state senator shows that he's trying to have his cake and eat it too.

Biden is a professional politician. I'm sure Obama needs his expertise, so from that point of view it's a good choice. A choice that I do not like, but good for Obama.

Obama has many negatives and explains them all away. His supporters behave as if they disappeared, but they still exist in the memory of people like me--about half of the voters in the US.

I appreciate your response.
