Are your boys in band?

Your comment on Band really intrigued me - we'll have to give it consideration. They are in orchestra as first violin & cello and are into so many other things it maybe a hard sell:-)

I really tout band as a way to keep kids occupied.

As a former band director, (twenty years of service, teaching students from 6th Grade to University) I heartily concur.

Not only are they kept busy, but the typical band membership is comprised of the best kids in school, so they are keeping good company.

Musical training also has been proven to strengthen communication between the two halves of the brain, resulting in better analytical skills and critical thinking.

And as for simultaneous physical and mental demands, no activity is more taxing than marching band, none.

Yes, it is expensive, but worth every penny.
