Who knows? It has been suggested that he did it out of pique when Rove did a thumbs down on Lieberman. Or that it is a bone to the Christian Right.

Actually, it was reported on Cavuto today that McCain met with a group of individuals as far back as June and mentioned Palin as a possible candidate. So, it wasn't an off-the-wall choice as the liberal media has portrayed it. (Of course).
