Why do I get the feeling that you are talking in some kind of echo chamber?

I've seen "rewarding" which is even worse than "condoning".

What you see as rewarding, I see as accepting a bad situation and trying to show family solidarity after being thrust on the national stage. Also, I would guess that privately the Palins are at times seething with anger...anger that this girl has thrown away her youth and anger that this girl has brought a certain amount of 'disgrace' and ridicule to their family which as governor already lives a public life.

Rewarding, IMO, would be for Sarah Palin to turn down the opportunity to be VEEP in order to spare her daughter the embarrassment of her out-of-wedlock pregnancy. On a previous post, didn't you say that you and some of your fellow teachers thought Palin was being selfish and putting herself ahead of her daughter by allowing her situation to be exploited by the press?

If it were me and my daughter had the audacity to complain that I was going to make her feel embarrassed, I would (after I resisted the urge to slug her) tell her "Tough cookies, girl....buck up and learn how to handle it. You're a grown-up now."

funny
I haven't seen much except for condoning

Practically speaking, actually, I've seen "rewarding" which is even worse than "condoning". And if you haven't seen "rewarding" you haven't seen the same clips I have.

Syb, this was your response to Moose after he said he thought the Palins were just being a 'loving family'. And this is why I believe you're putting them in a no-win position. On the one hand, Sarah Palin's being cruel to bring her daughter into the public spotlight. On the other hand, she's condoning and rewarding bad behavior by including the girl and the boyfriend in all the festivities.

So what would you have her do, i.e. which is it?

Also she doesn't need to suspend her career to take care of this girl, does she? The girl will be marrying the boyfriend and presumably leaving home to set up house with him somewhere.

Michelle Obama has a husband bringing home lots of bacon. Why aren't you critical of her career efforts? I find her somewhat annoying--expressing the typical yuppie love for fine clothes and expensive shoes, all the while complaining about how hard it is to raise children and have a career.
