My mominlaw loved the speech. She just called to tell me she was back to voting for McCain. He hit all her redwhiteand blue buttons, all her old conservative beliefs. No more Bush, Change!

I understood. I thought he did great. I got bored and wandered out in the beginning, but came back for the last part, which I think was probably the best.

The writers did a super job of separating him from Bush- saying change a zillion times, and fightfightfight. I bet he reassured the wobblies and some indies. Maybe a lot.

McCain is full of contradictions about who he is politically now, and what he plans to do. It's up to Obama to highlight those contradictions so he can't just be all things to all people with no spotlight on the flip-flops.

Interesting comments, Sam. I missed the speech. It was well down on my to do list last night and decided to skip it for a quick look in on the Obama-O'Reilly thingie and then watch the Giants-Redskins game.

Plus, I finally found a good manual for the 3g iPhone I just bought. So I spent some time checking through some capabilities. God, what a toy. It's more than a little like the electric train set I got one Xmas.

Halperin thinks the McCain strategy is for Palin to lock down most of the (Bush) red states so that he can concentrate on MI and a couple of blue states without having to waste time and money on the red states that seem to be competitive now. MI is the "key" for McCain, Halperin says. Jon Meachem agrees that MI is the key state.

Hockey is real big in Michigan, Sarah should help McCain alot in MI.
