I agree totally with staying on top of your teens, supervising them, and not leaving it up to others. I also agree with your other comments about helping them find wholesome activities like band. In our family it was choir, drama, swimming and tennis. Three of the four children became moderately proficient on the piano and one got pretty good on the flute and played in the school orchestra.
