Petekoby, I wrote in one of my recent previous post about Solzhenitsyn vision of Russia and Russia under Putin and the danger to the free world from his concept of reviving the historic “Mother Russia”. ( en.wikipedia.org; en.wikipedia.org; en.wikipedia.org The ruling class in Russia over the ages where the Varangian Rus whose way of life was by having exacted tribute from those that they conquered and subdued militarily, and established the Russian “Elite” we are having even today. So nothing changed over the ages. It is clear by now that Russia is returning to its medieval roots of an aggressive war mongering country that does its best by plundering his neighbors’ riches. Russia is a country ruled by what the Western leaders missed in their assertion and - " These intellectuals had missed not only that the Soviet Union (now Russia) was a social catastrophe, but that, far from being ruled by intellectuals, it was being ruled by thugs". As to the resurrection of Russia Orthodox Church – just think of Rasputin a dark figure of a monster under the cover of a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church - that is one aspect of Solzhenitsyn new “Mother Russia” Stratfor correctly defined Russia economy as run as a Mafia type of organization in a recent post by TJ. Please keep in mind that Russia proper does not have many natural resources and Russia expansion was exactly for this reason – to conquer other nations and plunder their natural resources. (Mother Russia extended as far east as the Volga and Ural mountains – all they have in that region in abundance is fertile land and lots of drunk people to the extent that alcohol render them infertile – that is why Russia population is shrinking - booze) The essence of all this is what type of world would we like to live in - one envisioned by radical Islam or Solzhenitsyn - as an example or in a world guided by the principles that radical Islam and Solzhenitsyn detested so much. I found many similarities between the rise of Hitler and reestablishing Germany pride and later as a world power trough the military and Putin who also established the “Nashi” movement which practices and ideology rimes with those of the “Deutsches Jungvolk” later to become the “Hitler Yugend”. Putin Party has similar connotation like the National German Workers Party The choice for me is simple and therefore I think that a repeat of R. Reagan polices should be applied and run Russia economy under Putin into the ground or otherwise our life style must change and it will include much more wars and suffering to combat the tugs in the Kremlin and their allies the Islamic radicals - which is so obvious by the re-arming of radical Iran with their extremist clergy
