OK - Now its time for you to say that carrier could some to this business model within the context of today's capitalism - if it is profitable. To which I respond by losing my temper, saying "Reread the previous post!"

What you describe is a concept that already exists. It's called "rental." A paradigm shift from ownership to rentalship of household goods is interesting, but a tough sell, I think. Given the stigma attached to rental now and the pride of ownership, it's unlikely to take off in the market on its own. You'd have to implement it by fiat. Dunno who might have the political clout to pull that off.

Stan;

Your frustration with Lane is why I say you are way ahead of your time.

It is why I mentioned "cradle to cradle" to lane, which was not even commented on. Sad, as Cradle to cradle addresses your thinking on garbage and pushes our economy towards real capitalism. If we don't get a grip on this problem we all end up waddling around in our own waste - which to a point we are already doing as the quality of our air and water deteriorate.
