I don't think the theory of natural selection was supposed to explain everything.

It actually explains very, very little.

Katelew;

I think you're quite wrong in thinking people of faith don't believe evolution was and is taking place

Well of course not, I never said that. If you remember I agreed with your understand that people of faith can and do believe that God and evolution can coexist.

What I said is;.....I agree with that statement. I do not believe that one can believe in creationism and evolution at the same time though

You are ignoring what I said and arguing on something that I agree with you on.

Probably about as many who deny the Holocaust

Completely disagree. The people cheering for Palin and throwing cash at McCain and could make McCain our next President are the "creationist" followers - that's their attraction to Palin.

They simply think that Darwinism doesn't explain everything. In truth, I don't think they even think about it that much even though the media flogs the notion.

I guess there are some hold-outs that completely deny fossil records, etc. Probably about as many who deny the Holocaust.<<

Kate -

You're aware of the Creation Museum, are you not?

creationmuseum.org

Among its displays is one where there is a dinosaur with a saddle on it. And it's not a joke.

There is a relatively small, but very well financed political movement in this country, comprising people who absolutely do not believe in evolution. They are dedicated to exposing what they believe to be a great lie, in the short term. Their longer term goal is to remove the barriers between Church and State, turning the US into the "Christian Nation" they believe the founders intended it to be.
