We care about quite a number of things. The oil pipeline is just one of them, if a major one. Democracy in Georgia is also an issue, as is the more general idea of dissuading the rise in Russian imperialist thoughts and actions.

And even if our concern was 100% about the oil pipeline (and it isn't), so what?

That isn't very relevant. What happened in Georgia happened because of the concerns and actions of Russia and Georgia, not because of US opinion.
