Now this would be funny:

Palin Reaction?

Gov. Palin tomorrow:

(Steps up to the microphone.)

(Starts to speak, then stops and reaches down and picks up something small.)

(She is now applying lipstick in front of this huge crowd that is laughing and cheering.)

(After a few minutes, the cheering dies down and she begins to speak.)

"Oink."

(The crowd roars anew...)

That's from MamaAJ.

I'm with Mike Huckabee on the 'lipstick' controversy. I have to give Obama a pass for a pretty stupid but innocent remark given the circumstances.

Let me explain. Several years ago, before I retired, I got off the elevator and encountered a fine woman, now deceased, who managed our 'cultural diversity program.' It is a fact relevant to my story that she was a black woman. We were on friendly terms.

I blurted, "Hello, [name shall remain unspoken]! I haven't seen you in a coon's age!"

"Oh, hello, ManyMoose. I'm from the south, so I've heard that phrase before." Which comment blew right by me.

Back at my office my colleague said, "I can't believe you said that to her."

"Said what?"

"Coon's age. She might interpret that as a racist remark."

"Oh my God. I better go down and apologize." Which I did.

She graciously forgave me and we had a nice chat.

So, I forgive Obama for his remark. I don't think it is any smarter than my comment about a "Coon's age," however.

I'm glad I'm not running for President.
