Oh, yeah. Nothing bad about Mac cuz he was a POW, nothing bad about SP cuz she is a hockey mom. Sounds fair.
Should we gag Obama for the debates? Make Biden write out his answers? What else can we do to soothe your feelings? Obama will do what it takes to get yer vote.

>>It doesn't matter if Democrats had used the term before. IMO his campaign should apologize, carefully and quickly. When Democrats used the term before, there wasn't a woman on the Republican ticket. Once Palin came on the ticket, their vocabulary HAD to change. Maybe Obama can apologize and explain (that he had used the term before, Palin was on the ticket) that he was just recycling old phrases from earlier on the stump.

One shouldn't use the term "putting lipstick on a pig" when referring to the proposals of Senator Clinton. And one shouldn't use the term now that there is a woman on the Republican ticket.<<

DavesM -

I disagree completely. If people interpret that phrase as a direct reference to Palin, it is they who are thinking of her as a pig.

Going on the defensive and allowing the Republicans to get away with this policy of sliming Obama and then screaming "foul" because of a perfectly innocent phrase would be stupid, in my opinion.

Well, at least you acknowledge that McCain has used the exact same phrase to describe Hillary's proposals.

Like I said, this is just pathetic by the Republicans. I have always hated the gender/race politics practiced by various Democratic politicians, but of course, it turns out that the Republicans are no different. Not particularly surprised, but it sucks nonetheless.

One of the problems democrats have is that apologize way too much. They can't say three words without someone claiming they should apologize.

The republicans on the other hand never apologize for anything.

"You apologize too much."
-- Angelina Jolie in "Wanted"

Chicks don't dig guys who are constantly apologizing, and neither do voters.
