Hey, if Senator Obama and the Democratic party want to continue using the phrase "putting lipstick on a pig", I've got no problem. Go right ahead. In fact maybe the Senator should just continue using the term, and ignore any critics.

IMHO, like it or not, political language must take into consideration who the political contestants are.

More than one person on SI have referred to President Bush as "Chimp". Don't you agree that such a nickname would be even more inappropriate if we have a Democratic President? Calling a President (from the Democratic Party) an idiot, or terms suggesting low intelligence might be viewed as very insensitive as well. A political opponent might be wise to avoid such words or phrases.
