MM -

There was no inappropriate gaffe, and the Republicans are completely responsible for inventing the controversy.

Obama is doing exactly the right thing by calling lies what they are.

MM,

Seems like a pretty reasoned response to the stupidity of this issue.

The press is really eating this up because they benefit by more campaign spending the closer the election is.

Obama saying that if this is what we want to debate about and listen to for the next 2 months, we are in big trouble makes a lot of sense. McCain wants to distract us from the issues with these made up controversies.

Now that's the Obama I want to see on the campaign trail. It's well past time to say this. And say it often.

The McCain folk know they will lose and lose badly if the election is about the issues, so they manufacture silly, clearly lying stuff to generate media controversy.

Call them on it. Characterize their campaign for what is. And continue to discuss what he will do on the issues. Eventually, it might force even the McCain folk to discuss issues.

That was such an excellent clip, I had to doublecheck to see if I had clicked on the right link! Obama is completely correct, and I am delighted to see him say this. The Republicans are going into overdrive on Palin, trying to milk anything they can, and I think it could backfire.

The constant barrage of halftruths and lies coming from McCain are disappointing - the latest being the outrageous porkie about Obama wanting sex ed for children before they can read.
It's just a lie.

My mominlaw emailed me that she is very upset about Palin and the direction this campaign is taking. They may have fired up the base, but the pattern of deceit and diversion is emerging, and rational people will notice.

That is a good video for Obama.

Republicans have a vp candidate who has a tough outdoorsman rep. Why make her sound like a sissy that needs to be protected? It is a mistake by McCain's campaign.
