What is it that you are not surprised at?

Sorry that my reference was confusing. I had described my reaction to Kate's assertion as startling. I was contrasting my reaction to your statement with my reaction to hers--way too esoteric a reference. I had said I was surprised at her. I did not expect her to say something like that. But I am more familiar with your views on some things so yours didn't surprise me.

Do you disagree with the statement?

I disagreed with hers. She said "church-going." You said "religious." Did you intend yours to mean the same thing?

If you mean to frame a dichotomy between believers and non-believers, you can bet your bippy that I disagree. There are simply not enough of us non-believers about to cause much trouble, even if we were more inclined than others to do so, which we aren't.

As best I understand it, the serious troublemakers in the schools in my area ethnic gang members and wannabees--Hispanic, black, and Asian. The first two groups, at least, are most likely to come from families of believers.
