LongIslandguy:

"The guy makes 8 figures. He thinks Palin is an absolute idiot and totally unqualified. He thinks that Obama is thoughtful and intelligent.

However, he's probably going to vote McCain purely on the tax issue. I understand and I can't blame him.

Koan: Obama taught us two new words we need to start using: ENOUGH AND RIDICULOUS.

Any man who makes 8 figures does not need to worry about anything financial. But if he has a family he might want to worry about survival.

His eight figure income is not going to be worth anything if he is dead; or the neo cons bankrupt the country and the dollar collapses and a huge depression takes place.

Bush has sure set us on those courses and MCCain/Palin will follow that course. I jsut listened to MCCain. It is pure neo con economics for th erich and keep the poor and mddile class down.

But He should vote for Obama simply because the people will do better under Obama, received mroe justice and it will cost him nothing really to help the poor. How much does one need?

But from a self interest point of view he should know he is 100 times safer with Obama's/Bidens fingers on the red button than MCCain/palin.

tell your classmate to carefully consider electing the leader who will be the best steward of our country's resources -- as citizens we must think about future generations and find a way to leave this country in a better condition. Warren Buffett and Bill Gates are supporting Obama. Bob Rubin (the former CEO of Goldman) is supporting Obama. I have an aunt who is directly related to the founder of Whirlpool Corp and if she was just interested in the lowest tax rate she would vote for McCain...Yet, this aunt will tell you she has been blessed and has much more money than she needs -- she has contributed to Obama and done fundraising for him in California..and she thinks McCain and Palin are totally unfit for command of this country (the big issues for her are global warming and protection of our constitutional rights -- and the Supreme Court will swing to the hard right if McCain is the next President).

How can you post that? If we get another president like Bush your friend will be lucky if he's making 3 figures. Hell, Bear Stearns is gone, LEH is probably a takeunder, FNM and FRE are gone, the deficit is growing by leaps and bounds every year, we are embroiled in two wars and almost into a third and fourth if bush/cheney have their way, the American infrastructure is falling apart......the list goes on and on......and your friend is worried about paying too much taxes.

My God does the sky have to fall before people get it that we are going to hell in a handbasket. Palin IS an idiot. We don't need an idiot VP and a comatose President with funny arms. Scheisse!

Besides, if he's makin that much his 32% each year means he's makin more than he can ever spend in just a few years. He should be feakin thanking god that the WS game has lasted THIS long. If more republicans get in office and try and keep this obscene game going, when it DOES end you'll have people with pitchforks breaking into those mansions up in Greenwich and stringing your buddy up!

"A 65% top tax bracket when you roll in state, payroll, local, etc is scary" is a Republican talking point.

State, payroll, local taxes are deductible from business income, for computing federal taxes. State, MOL half of payroll, and most local taxes are deductible from individual taxable income.

If he would pay 65%, he should stop doing his taxes himself, and get Turbo Tax or Turbo Tax for Business or an accountant. And not vote based on such nonsense.

McCain/Palin is incidental. The real ticket: Cheney/Rove or Rove/Cheney....hard to tell.

McCain received 2 phone calls from Rove and gave up his picks - Lieberman, Ridge, Pawlenty for a woman he had met only once and with whom he had a 15 minute conversation.

Palin is walking around in a straitjacket and high heels with a bag over her head like a Gitmo prisoner. They even had her home coming at the airport staged with a teleprompter lest she actually say something they didn't script.

This is the RNC ticket: Cheney/Rove.

It doesn't get uglier than that.

You might tell your roomie to consider the incredible instability that comes with Cheney/Rove in the White House for 4 years.

BS? Lehmann Bros? Wamu? Wachovia? Fannie and Freddie?

How many more shoes are going to drop?

Robert Rubin was talking about the perfect storm on Charlie Rose the other night. It could get much, much uglier.

What good is having a tidy tax bracket if the country looks like the financial equivalent of Dresden?
