Yeah there are conditions that have to be fulfilled re Israel before the rapture.

I don't think it is a very healthy view of the world, and would prefer not to have end times people in a position where they can in any way influence foreign policy.

They can always have their 7 years of trials and tribulations after I am dead and buried.

I've never heard of Walvoord before now, so I may now have to put him on my winter reading list. I'm glad you find him to be a genuinely good person and not someone with an obvious agenda. In my church, the Book of Revelations is almost completely ignored... as in never taught and seldom referenced. I don't know why that is, now that I think about it.

As for Jews dying, don't feel picked on. Scripturally speaking, ALL who don't embrace Christ as the Messiah sent from God will perish. I think it would be a great big "thank goodness" event myself. I picture everyone looking around at each other and thinking 'finally, clarification!--we can all quit arguing with each other and straining with our own limited comprehension to figure it out.' Maybe a global lovefest would ensue.:)

The point is that I don't know why it couldn't be an easy capitulation since people now have visible proof of a supreme being and can clearly see what he would have us do. And those who don't capitulate are small in number.

The Harry Potter books are wonderful and can easily be seen as a religious allegory of sorts. The ingenious alternate reality she presents is fabulous and thought provoking. My favorite character creation is the Dementor. Believe it or not, there are some small fundamentalist groups out there that view them as somewhat Satanic.

Why refer to these are a Grandmother's tales.. A bubbamisa.

I loved my roommates Bubba. She spoke Yiddish but when she spoke English it was with an Italian accent. She migrated to lower Manhattan with the Italians and learned English there.

It was fascinating.
