I trying to show that McCain rolled her out as a kindred spirit in the fight against the earmark process. If he had not done that, then it would not be a big issue. But it is misleading and mislabeling to tout Palin as anti-earmark and have her prominently mention the Bridge to Nowhere so many times.

If McCain and Palin hadn't tried to cast her as anti-earmark, the Democrats couldn't really attack her on that tack. It is not he fact that she wasn't against earmarks - she was clearly for them, and gamed the process as much as anyone - it is the fact that they tried to make it seem otherwise.
