That would make sense, but having all the filler tubes on the same side would make even more sense. I hate it when you come to a pump and the only way to get your filler tube in place is to face another vehicle head on.

In the army I drove a multi-fuel deuce and a half that would run on diesel or gas. Hell, it would run on cooking oil. I think running a diesel modern car on gas is the compression ratio. Might blow the engine plus the cylinders wouldn't be properly lubed.

Not 100% certain on this, but I believe the diesel nozzle is bigger and won't fit in a gasoine fill tube. Obviously, that will not eliminate the risk of contaminating a diesel engine with gasoline, as Many Moose's experience demonstrates.
