I think the problem is that Barclay's didn't want to buy the whole bank. What's not clear is why Lehman couldn't have sold them the bits they wanted and then declared bankruptcy. Maybe Barclay's can still buy some bits from the administrators. Though the bits they wanted are rapidly losing any value. I guess it is the story that Fuld wouldn't accept reality, not now and not earlier. Question is where was the board earlier when they were negotiating with the Koreans etc.
