Certainly the debates will now be huge for both sides. If McCain goes into them 4-5 points behind, the press will be looking for him to need to score a "win" in perception terms.

Yes, my wife and I just had this conversation. If McCain goes in down that much, he will be "pressing" and is much more likely to make some sort of mistake.
