"Far from it: It might actually encourage new levels of mass superstition."

All religions are mass superstition.... You're getting into the game of "my god's better than your god.."

See the data here....

religions.pewforum.org

Key data:

1) 71% certain there is a god
2) 56% say religion is important
3) 39% attend church weekly

You've got bigger problems than worrying about other supernatural believers...

The statement "21% of atheist's believe in god" is silly...if you believe, you're not an atheist.

"21% of self-proclaimed atheists believe in either a personal God or an impersonal force. Ten percent of atheists pray at least weekly and 12% believe in heaven."

Any atheist who believes in any sort of god at all is not an atheist much less pray and believe in heaven....

Without discussing the silly stats in your link about frogs and ghosts and flying spaghetti monsters I simply say that your churches have failed. They have failed to hold on to their flocks and as a result all of the impressionable are susceptible to all sorts of fantasies..... You're discussing atheism as if it is a religion and it is not.
