My favorite part:

"In the long run this is great for both the housing market and the government — for the housing market because it puts a floor under current falling housing prices and allows America’s positive population growth and net inmigration to slowly raise future prices, and for the government because while it will increase debt in the short term, in the long run it will probably earn the government a profit. The Treasury will be aiming to buy low and sell high, and in most cases should be able to, yet it has the authority to raise its paying prices or lower its sale prices as necessary to ensure that both ends of the market continue to function semi-normally. [emphasis added]

government earn a profit? The RTC bonds are still out and about--total final cost: ~$950 bil. And that was minor compared to this mess.

"buy low and sell high" ? More like buy high--to bail out the bankster cronies--and sell low--to ensure their co-conspirators reap the benefits of the scam. This is what happened in Argentina.

They're totally clueless about the oil price too. But make up some hypothesis about the news which moved the oil price that didn't move...

Everybody is 'on board' TJ. Show for the masses in the Congress. FBI "investigating frauds", all to keep the Elroys and MQ's of this world in the belief that the rule of the law applies...

But this is time to avoid people left on the sidewalk peniless.

I haven't heard of no one jumping from the 45th floor. There will be 'protection' to everyone...

My FAX machine been doing overtime overnight sending FAXes to senators to vote against bailout. May be very limited use but at least I have satisfaction of having done my side :-) so that I can change my mental state from rescue mode to recovery mode with clear conscience
