Manmohan Singh meets Chinese Premier in New York

New York, Sept 24 (PTI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today met his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao here today to discuss the development of bilateral relations and resolving outstanding issues, including the vexed boundary dispute.
Singh and Wen, who are here to attend the UN General Assembly meeting, met at the Waldorf Hotel where the Indian Prime Minister is staying.

The high-level meeting is taking place amid some tension in bilateral ties in the wake of attempts by China to block a consensus on the India-specific waiver at the NSG meet in Vienna earlier this month.

Beijing's stand at the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) upset New Delhi, which conveyed its unhappiness to Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi during his recent visit to New Delhi.

After a year-long hiatus, the two sides concluded two days of in-camera boundary talks at the level of Special Representatives last week in Beijing. PTI
