Letterman jumped on the Obama bandwagon at least a yr ago. He's been making ageist jokes about McCain for that long. IMO, part of McCain's strategy was to nudge an over the top reaction from Dave(it worked), thereby alerting any moderate voters to the juvenile late night host's empty O bias.

Letterman's choice of Olbermann as McCain's replacement spoke volumes as to Dave's liberal dementia. Mad-dog Dobermann and Chris Matthews combined have far fewer viewers than any evening FOX program. Olbermann's negative karma rubbed unto Letterman--both those bombastic libs cater to a limited number of moonbat fans.

what I am talking about is this...
it is generally accepted and established that if you want to be POTUS you must 'run the gauntlet' of talk shows and also face tough questions from people like Tim Russert [now deceased], Tom Brokaw, Katie Couric, et al...

McCain has attempted to change the rules of the game...much worse he lied unabashedly about it, lowering his credibility to near zero in the process...
