This concept is uniquely Western. Most Eastern philosophies believe that men are created differently based on karma or whatever.

Take ST's example, for instance. "An old samurai saying stated the 'punishment' for being a warrior was to return as samurai in the next life, thereby continuing the cycle of restless violent life they lived." That implies fatalism. If you were born into rough circumstances, oh well, you probably deserved it based on your actions in a previous life.

That among other things have given birth to the Indian caste system as well as class hierarchy in other Asian cultures.

So Christianity gave the world hospitals? Oh my? Do tell where was the first hospitals with separate wards for different illnesses based on clean environment were built [Hint: it was over 1000 years ago].

And who exactly was it that enslaved the blacks who needed to be freed by "Christianity"?

And comes to think of it, I don't remember reading, "We hold these truths to be self-evident..." anywhere in any Christian religious texts. Do enlighten us how the US Declaration of Independence and Constitution define Christianity.

On the other hand, we do have Christian leaders claiming that the city of New Orleans was not destroyed because of sloppy and over strained levies (that was previously predicted) but due the will of God. Talk about balking at responsibility!!
