What I can't figure out is why did McCain get involved? That seems like it was a blunder of absolute massive proportions. He was home free, having already distanced himself from the administration, and he jumped into the fire. Maybe he figured he was going to lose in November so it's not a big deal if this all backfires on him.

Must be lots of phone calls and e-mails to house pubs. Also they have th most at stake. They all are up for election.

I stand somewhat corrected. The Repubs have decided they'll take a chance on not voting for it. The Dems'll just tell their constituent that the plan hasn't had enough time to kick in.
