After some intermittent resistance and a lot of soul searching, I am in full agreement that Dr. Davis has a great program going. The problem is that even under ideal circumstances only a minuscule percentage of the population will adhere even to a significant part of his program.

However every time I go to a baseball game and see all of these guys with pot bellies and the food there eating, I think who is going to take care of all of these slobs? The guys who are quoted in the article is the answer. They are providing a middle ground of aggressive but targeted drug therapy to try and help those people who won't or can't go the full Davis program. IMO they are also providing a public service. JMHO of course.

That gave me a headache. I wonder if a pleiotropic effect of statins might be headache relief...

The problem is that inflamatiio and a high CRP in your blood can come from many sources not just inflamation in your arteries.

jrhana,

Sounds kind of crazy to push statins on "low risk group" with high CRP, when CRP can be dealt with more effectively with diet (lower carb) and fish oil.
