Richard, I guess if you purchased AMAT at 21.625 and then sold this Summer you made a good decision. It all determined what you % gain was! Some guess right. Some guess wrong. All we can do is use our collective research and make the best calculations we can.
Market timers have a very difficult time in timing the market. Those on this thread have seen those who tried to time the market setting on the side as the market ran up. Others of us waited until the market has again dropped. Yes, we made the total ride up till this moment and will wait until AMAT reaches in new highs.

Greatings ,

Paul V.

RR, you asked if you should cover. If you promise not to preach
the next time you're right and I'm wrong, I'll tell you. <G>
Cover now.

Good luck, whatever you do.

RR, I advised you (since you asked) to cover now. You should know
that I bought more at pre-split 100, so you know how much my advice
is worth. <G>

At least it will give some of us a chance to buy lower again soon.
Please tell your mum and dad and friends to join the fray of shorting more. thanks a bunch. Regards

Hi Richard, that's Great! That's Timing at its best!...Now you are faced with a problem whether to cover or not. Follow what you think is the best. If you ask me, Cover now; Now is the turn for the Bulls (Alan Greenspan wants the market to remain in a trading range, Up for a week or two then down for a week or two---to insure a not overly enthusiastic Bull). As a stock does not go straight Up, does not go straight down also. AMAT is poised to open at 42 3/8 and maybe higher...

Re: AMAT's "Overvaluation"

AMAT is currently trading at about 16X next year's heigh-end EPS projections of $2.50. This is your idea of overvalued? And this for a company which should see EPS growth of 30% for the coming years. At a price of $30, AMAT would be trading at 12x next years high EPS forecasts. This would be ludicrous. In a market which gives Coca-Cola a P/E of 22x on year 2000 earnings(keep in mind that they'll be lucky to grow EPS at 15% per year, one half of AMAT) I have a difficult time listening to the chants of "AMAT's Overvalued." If you want overvaluation, why not look at companies trading at twice their growth rate instead of half? MSFT, AOL, NSCP, AMZN, YHOO, KO, G......... The list goes on and on but everyone still seems to focus on AMAT.

Hi RR

Short the stock. I hope you make more money --pay your commissions and your taxes. But don't thumb your nose at me.

I'll stay with the stock---grow with a fine company---and in the long run grow rich.

Investment does not have to be shooting crap. I'll stick with the leader.

I wish you luck.
