It's true, Max. By the end of the 70's the Dems controlled the bureaucracy of the govt, and they took some issues that should have evolved for granted. They were swept out of office starting with Reagan in 80 and have largely been out of office through 06', but now it's the Repugs who have taken their power for granted and become far more corrupt and have done a much worse job. We were not in the fine pickle after the Dems reign that we have been placed in now.

I made the previous reply before I read your most recent exchanges with the other sages here, Max, and I didn't mean to be piling on to you, barraged from all sides.

At a later date I plan to comment on the nature of discourse by longhsort and jllalen (and a whole lot of other people on all of the other political threads). I find it almost concerted.
